Loved for its excellent marbling
and succulent taste, Dexter is one of the oldest and smallest breeds of cattle in the world.
Despite their compact size, Dexter cattle are known for their hardiness and adaptability — thriving in environments as extreme as the +40°C outback of Australia to the -40°C winters of Northern Canada, and flourishing in Ireland’s temperate climate.
Dexters are natural foragers, preferring a diverse, grass-based diet. Their free-roaming lifestyle contributes to their richly marbled, succulent beef — loved for its distinctive flavour and tenderness. Resilient and self-sufficient, they embody a traditional, low-intervention way of farming that’s deeply rooted in heritage.
Natural Born Grazers
Dexters are The National Parks and Wildlife Service’s (NPWS) preferred breed for conservation grazing and are used on NPWS land across the country.
